Crackling Nosies

Morning when I put ingnition on there is a crackling sound coming from dizzy I have a lumenition optronic ignition. Checked that out all seems well. Still getting spark but car want start .if I need new dizzy which is most compatible. Cheers

The first thing I'd try is a hair dryer blowing low heat around it for an hour or so, to eliminate damp.

 

What is the state of your engine’s tune ?

Have you checked the state of the cap, rotor arm and cables it could be a failing component and what you are hearing could be the high voltage arcing across something.

If you check either at night or in low light it would help external arcing but if it in the distributor then close inspection might real some signs.

Cheers will try them things tomorrow. It does sound like it's arcing somewhere if ì touch blue wire on lumenition wires it makes it doʻ it more ?

No it's just where the plug connect electronic ignition together I think something wrong with dizzy will take better look tomorrow

Have you tried measuring the resistance of the cables? It should be in the range of a few thousand Ohms (few kilo Ohms). If cables go bad their resistance may strongly increase, resulting in poor or no sparks.
