Out of interest some MPi Minis with front mounted rad were later fitted with aftermarket air con and the 'compact' compressor was mounted as shown in this photo....below the alternator but the opposite way around to gain some space.

JDM Mini Tuning Companies. I owned a Chamberlain tuned mini imported a couple of years ago to Australia. My understanding is Hugh Chamberlain an English engineer with links to sports car racing sold a tuned version to go up against the John Cooper Japan cars. Apparently there is a magazine showing a “shoot out” between the JDM tuners and the Chamberlain won with just over 100bhp. My car had 12.7:1 compression and a 296 scatter cam to off set the high comp. Regretting selling it last year.
