    Starting My Mini Up

Hello Everyone,

I own a MINI Rover Balmoral 1.3 I of 1996

It has a problem and hope someone will help me;  it does not start up. When my mechanic pours few drops of  fuel in the throttle body where the injector is located the car starts up normally and can drive, but when the engine is cold (after say 1 hour) it does not start up !
I guess to find the fault a diagnosis is necessary by means of a software to connect the car to computer (I have already bought the cable on eBay)

I have already download the Rover MEMS 1.3/1.6 Fault Code Reader for MAc/Apple.
My question is: if I link my car via cable to the software (Rover MEMS 1.3/1.6 Fault Code Reader) will I be able to get code for the fault?  do I need anything else?
Pardon my ignorance but I am not an expert on this field.
I'd appreciate your suggestion to solve the issue with my MINI, this occurred as a result of a stormy weather with heavy rain. The car was running and starting up normally, the next day after the storm it stopped working

Your tips and replies very much appreciated
Kind Regards
Bob

You will get fault codes of following from Rovermems app, some of them just OK by default.

As far as I'm concerned, MEMS is not required. Check the voltage at the starter when cranking. If it's below 9.6v there will be issues. A mini should however read much higher than 9.6v due to the large battery size compared to the engine size.
