Grrrreetings from California! Hopefully my '66 won't get jealous, but I just couldn't pass up this Inno! It's a '72, or at least that's what its papers say (sorry, no pics-- no photo bucket etc)

 

 

So... what are the differences? So far I've found that I needed 10mm and 14mm wrenches to remove the seat pivot bolts, but I have to say I like those little shouldered bolts. And the little red light between the large clocks was worrying me -- I thought it was an ignition light and wasn't going out when I revved the engine a bit-- until I translated a picture from the owners' manual and figured out it's the parking brake warning light.

 

I'd really like to get some quick-release bonnet hinges, but I'm not sure whether the stuff Mini Spares, etc. have will work. The hinges are in the same place as my MkI, but they look a lttile different when I hold the old MkI parts along side. Anyone know about this? Or how the headlamps are wired? They seem to come on whenever the ignition is on...

I noticed that in the most recent edition of Cooper World (the MCR's monthly mag) there is a new Innocenti registrar in post. I'm sure they'd be keen to hear from you.

Sounds like a great find, John! The little details like the shouldered bolts and parking brake light add to the charm—hope you sort out the bonnet hinges and wiring soon!

Congrats for joining the Innocenti family. Is your '72 an Innocenti 1001 or is it a Cooper 1300 (identifyable by the VIN; B38/8 is an 1001, B39/6 is a Cooper 1300; The VIN is stamped into the right innerwing right above the clutch housing)?

Once you state which model you own I may have a wiring diagramm for you. Though generally the lights should be operated via the switch next to the ignition key in the "centre console".

I always liked the Innocenti! The numerous clocks on the dashboard are cool as...
