When I got my mini I was not surprised to find that the oil was as black as can be (pretty normal as I recalled it from 50 years ago when I last had a mini).
But I have done an oil & filter change and the black has not returned (yet), although I fully expect that it will eventually.
Quite why I bought 25 Ltrs (it was a price thing) I don't know, because I won't do more than 1,500 miles in the car in a year and yearly changes will be the reason to change not the mileage.
Now I am constantly tripping over the large oil-drum in my workshop. There's enough oil for 5 years.
What to do with the old used oil? Recycling centre or burn in a furnace for heat?

I'll change my oil every couple of years, the car doesn't do enough miles to worry about mileage. I've always considered that the type of use is more important than the time. With hobby cars they tend to do very few short runs and when used will get fully up to temperature, I consider this important to burn off any moisture.
It's interesting that manufacturers of new cars are now extending service intervals, most likely to compete with the reduced servicing needed on EVs. So how many oil changes on modern cars are actually needed and how many are extra income for the dealers?
The same seems to apply to brake fluid ... most manufacturers now want to change it at 3 years then every 2 years after that, yes we've all been told it's hydroscopic and it'll corrode the brake lines over time.
Except ... my daily driver tin top (an EV from a certain manufacture in the USA who's name can no longer be spoken) has just been in for a brake fluid change, it's done over 100,000 miles and is 5 years old and as per last time I asked them to check it they started by testing the fluid for moisture content and declared it's fine. Maybe next time!
