Hi, just about to mate my A+ gearbox back to the block, test fitted it, got all my new hardware sorted, and I've noticed this little extra hole on the block, primary gear end. It's shallow, looks brass lined, and the new gasket covers it.

It looks like there should be a ball in it for some reason.

I didn't take this part so have no reference, and can't see it in the Haynes or bolt location diagrams.

Anyone know? Tia.

It'll be an oil way drilling that's sealed with a core plug. The oil gallery goes round a corner & drills can't, so they have to drill 2 holes from the outside, that cross, then block off the entries that aren't needed.
