My mini 1275cc has a drip of oil from the split pin in the bottom of the bell housing.
I'm guessing it's the primary oil seal.
Has anyone changed one with the engine in situ?
When I fitted the engine I lowered it down past the servo without the wok fitted, then fitted it once the engine was lowered.
I can get the car up on stands and get the wok off etc but not sure how tricky the seal would be to replace this way.
I can get use of the tool to slide the seal over if that helps.

It can be changed in situ for sure, but you may need to remove the servo to gain access.

There's a few ways the seal can be removed, I feel the safest way is to pull the Primary Gear, the seal will come with it. I've seen people try and get screws or screw drivers in to the old seal in order to pull them, somethings OK and sometimes damaging the housing.

When you get the Clutch Cover off, have a closer look at where the oil is, if it's on the side of flywheel you can see, then it's more likely that the Primary Gear Bushes are worn, if after getting the flywheel off you find oil on the housing, only, then that'll be the seal.

I've found the Mini Spares own Seal to be very good and is my seal of choice. The Black Verto types do seal well, but they also groove the Primary Gear.
