I am attempting to rebuild a 1993 last of the carbureted 1275 engine. To be honest it is not to bad but blows oil out of the exhaust so while rebuilding the front end (MOT failure) I thought I would refresh the 70K engine.

Its currently fully stripped but when I have tried to fit the Mini Spares standard thrust bearings they are extremely tight. I have attempted a dry build and don't want to force them. I can surface grind them down to clean up but not sure if this is normal. I have build with the originals and its Ok. Is it normal for these to need a small clean up.

Thanks

You say it is OK with the originals;  Do you have a Micrometer, that you can compare the thickness of the old and the new, and tell us ?
