Hi,

You all know the problem... the plastic "chrome" strip in my front & rear screens has gone from shiny silver to orange, in about 4 years.  Really annoying.  Mini spares parts.

Is this - https://www.minispor...een-chrome.html

any better than this - https://www.minispor...ip-chrome.html   ?

or are there any better options?

Were they plastic from the factory?

Thanks!

I fit the black rubber version as it stays in place properly over the years.

I think they have always been plastic from the factory but no doubt the supplier has changed over the years.

I always find Phoenix Trim below good for their various Mini seals, etc.

I’ve never had one that goes orange before. I’ve tried nearly all of the chrome ones and found that the chrome strip wrinkles after the sun has been on them for a couple of hours. Never seen one advertised as genuine before as the Minisport one is I’d give that a go although the chrome strip profile is the same as all the other failed ones. The chrome strip insert due to its profile de-laminates from the vinyl it’s embedded in when fitting as it’s put under a lot of strain. The original locking strip chrome inserts were flat I believe and not contoured. Good luck. The phoenix one is just as bad as all the others.
