How Long After Rebuild Long Distance Driving?

I'm approaching 250 miles on my newly built engine.
I'm tempted to drive to work when the weathers nice but it's 60 miles away on A and B roads.
How long would you wait before doing such a long distance? I don't want to prevent the rings bedding in.
So far I've had the car on load up and down urban areas and hills etc... no prolonged idling or sustained RPM. I have an AFR gauge to monitor the fueling.
Cheers

No problem in my eyes. Just keep the "breaking in" driving style (various loads and not to much revs) and avoid motorways until 600 miles (1.000km).
3 years ago after we rebuild mine, my mechanic droved it for the first 50km (30 miles) city and country roads and I drove the 1.000km (600miles) to break it in on one weekend.
Still going strong after 20.000 miles (36.000km) with only one "issue": It's running better than my mechanic's own Mini engines...

The current engine in my missus Moke we ran in on our way to an event, 468 km away. We did about 7 km before leaving. Did an Oil and Filter change when we got there. That was 17 years ago.
The engine in my own Moke, I ran in with all of 28 km on the clock, on the way to a meeting point before setting off from there for a 10,000 km trip. It now has just on 75,000km on it. Likewise my 2 friends on the trip, did the same, One of these had less than 1 km on the clock before setting off.
I think what you are think of doing, you'll be fine. Just drive it.

I guess that's some confidence in knowing you've built it properly
Confidence ? While not being religious, we pray !

More years back than I care to remember (1984), I was driving home from Adelaide (in the Moke of course), it was late January - getting on to the height of our summer. My eyes were getting sore and tired as I'd made the dumb mistake of having them cool looking Aviator's Sunglasses, with the mirror lenses and metal frames. I couldn't wear them as the heat coming off the frames was burning my face, lesson learned there. Most of the time, I was down to my underware out on the road (there's few towns and a long way between them), I needed fuel and so pulled up just out of town to make myself more respectable. On filling up, I made the comment to the proprietor "Been hot !" to which she replied, "it's cooled off a bit now, it's only 47". It was damn hot, but not the hottest I've experienced.

Ahh wow haha what a great story!! It's crazy isn't it how so many memories come along with driving our little cars. I was working with the RAAF in the middle East and they loved their little mokes or at least thrashing thei parents ones in the outback. The aussies definitely had a lot more banter than some of the other forces haha! I remember one chap saying he had to move houses as he was posted up north. He said it won't take too long, just a few days to get there with his trailer!! And we moan about going to Scotland hhaha
