Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has run an MG Metro cam in an SPI and if so, how did it work out?
Thank you.

Not sure about this. My SPI has(d) an 89 Metro engine number, and I know it was converted from a JDM Auto car at some time. It very much over fuels and bogs down. (rest of the MEMS system clear and OK). I don't know what cam it has, but a mechanic helping me diagnose my car when It wouldn't even idle measured the lift and reckoned it was too high for the SPI ECU to handle. Overlap would be important also. I believe there are cams which the ECU can handle, or the stage 3 kit just throws 1.5:1 rockers at it.

Although some cam can work universally, most companies sell injection-specific cams for the SPi and MPi motors. It is always best to stick to these if you plan on retaining the Rover injection/ECU.
What is the reason you would want to use a Metro cam? If you have the motor out, or planning to, best to do the job right. Most of the other performance bits are bolt on. The cam is the one that requires the motor to be out. This is the main reason John Coopers Garage did not include a cam in their Si kits, and opted for 1:5 rockers. It was much more cost effective to install vs performance gains.
