When I replaced my rocker cover gasket a few months back, I changed to the silicone one rather than the cork ones. Since I've put the Mini back on the road, the engine sounds rather... Knock-y. It sounds (and feels) like it's coming from the rocker cover. It occurred to me the silicone one could be worse at absorbing vibrations, although nothing looks amiss to the naked eye. Is this something anyone else has experienced?

I've done about 50 miles worth of test driving for a variety of fixes and it doesn't appear to be getting worse, so am I just overthinking it?

Does it stop if you take the cover off?

if yes position the cover so it does not catch the rockers.

Have a look inside the cover for fresh marks , from rockers touching

it's possible that the alignment is slightly out , allowing contact .

some covers allow a bit of movement .
