Hey guys,

Has anyone moved the centre speedometer to in front of the driver similar to the David brown minis

I’m wondering if there were any issues I’m not considering.

Thanks in advance

You may find the speedo cable has to be bent quite sharp to make it work - this will need replacing anyway. Custom brackets may also be needed as the bulkhead contour is different on the sides

Thanks Steve, those were my thoughts too

Assuming the gauge fits between the bullhead and the dash, I could reroute the speedo cable through a new hole in the right place.

You probably need a longer speedo cable, similar to the one used in the Clubmans.

Centre Speedo cable is 26" long:-

https://www.minispar...-central-speedo

Minispares do a range of different lengths for Smiths centre speedo, you will probably need a cable length close to the Clubman length but with the earlier threaded fittings each end:-

For mounting the speedo in front of the driver maybe you could adapt/modify the RHD Clubman dash mounting bracket assembly, like this (2 clock) one on ebay:-

A cable for an 1100/1300 could do the job, but it could be easier to get one made unless you can find new old stock.

Would it actually work that well? The steering wheel seems more likely to obscure your view. There are smaller speedos in the same style, but lacking the fuel gauge.

We have a dash directory for perspiration.

SPEEDO CABLE 36" THREADED BOTH ENDS.

Extra long cable for Smiths central located speedo when position moved in dash:-
