I have a '72 Mini that cost me £50 and a tennis racket when I was 17 (far too many years ago!). It had Metro 4-pots and Minifins, poly bushes all round, Koni/HiLo suspension a 1380 fast road engine (Kent 286, tuned HIF6, 12G940 etc, and could show a 205GTi1.9 the way home) which I ran until it blew up, and it's sat in a shed at the bottom of my mum's garden ever since the drop gears made a bid for freedom, and the keyway broke on the crank pulley.

I'd fallen for the Narita Mini when it appeared in MiniWorld (that ages me), and sprayed it Ford Olympic Blue, with a white roof, it in Dad's garage.

I'm here to rekindle my love for the BM, and am hoping to get a feel for what's changed in the 30+ (yikes!) years since he went into hibernation, and all suggestions for a resurrection build are welcome, particularly for:

Ensuring (relative) durability for the drivetrain;

Moving to 10" wheels;

Reliable ignition;

Suspension improvements

I'd like to keep the original character that made it such a hoot.

I look forward to hearing from the community.

Iz..
