Morning all

My 1995 spi Mini came with 13" wheels and sports pack arches.  I'm planning to change to 12" x 4.5 wheels, original Rover type , fitted with 165/60 tyres.  Do you think they will look OK in the sports pack arches, or a little lost?

Thanks

Peter

They won't be a little lost, they will be completely lost. If you want to fit 12" you would need 12 x 6 rims.

I guess you could replace the Sports Pack arches with narrow Group 2 ones, which would look better as they carry the chrome trim right over the wheel arches. Then a 4.5 x 12 or 5 x 12 would look super.

Only trouble with fitting smaller arches is that the Sportpack front wings are cut away for clearance of 13" wheels, so some of the other smaller arches may not cover the cutaway wing profile and/or fixing hole positions, so some bodywork repairs and painting may be required.

Thanks for the input.  I don't want to remove the existing arches, too much hassle.  If I went for 12 x 6 rims, I'd have to make sure that the offset was in the correct range.  Trawling through the forum I've found figures of 22 or -7 for the original Rover 13" rims.  Can anyone confirm the correct figure?

For reference the Genuine Minilite 6 x 10" Deep Dish rims sold by Minispares are ET-15 offset, for the 'outer wheel edge from hub face' dimensions see details in link below.

"Re-introduced by the new Minilite company these are good quality wheels but do not look exactly like the originals from late 60s early 70s made by Tech Del, Offset ET-15, SPECIAL 70mm backspace for Japan market originally. This gives 4.25" outer wheel edge from hub face:-
