Can the output shafts be changed while a box and engine are together or do I need to seperate them.

You can change them while it's together, no problem, though it is an engine out job.
Just take off the Diff Side Covers and then the Diff Cap - don't drop the Diff on your toes !

The engine is currently not in a car so thats good.
I have done them before ages ago and never on an assembled unit. Thanks for the info and toe saving tip.
