My 1995 JPM SPI came to me with ultra lite 6”x 13” rims and Yoko A048 tires (175 50 13). They provide awesome grip but I would like to change to 10” rims for aesthetic reasons. My concern is tire stickout.

My current front tires protrude from the arches by about 25mm. While I intend to complete the 7.5 “ disc conversion I would like to get the tires to just align with the edge of the arches. I am planning on Yoko A008 series tires.  I would like to have the widest tire possible. From the face of the brake disc flange to the outer edge of the wheel arch is 2 1/2 “

I have searched this site for information but it is difficult for me to figure out the best option   I think I have the Group 2 arches but not sure. I understand that a 4.5 or 5” rim and 165 70 10 tires are compatible

Since I am in Canada it is a huge challenge to order and ship rims from the UK and then find out they don’t meet my requirements. I would appreciate any assistance in choosing the right rim with the appropriate ET.

Thanks

6x10 genuine Minilites with group 2 arches. 7.9"discs (should be same track as 7.5") and Super Minifin drums.

Biggest issue is offset. By the looks of the wheels you have, the offset is huge! I have a set of 10x6 with group arches and theres only a little poke.

Steve220, I believe my current wheels have an ET of +10. So I need wheels with a much larger positive offset or smaller width to get them to tuck under the arches.

imack, that configuration looks great. Thanks for your information. However if I understand correctly, the backspace of 100 as noted on the mini spares attachment you provided is the distance from the flange face to the back of the wheel for clearance to the shock mount and the quoted 74 mm is measured from the hub face to the outer wheel rim edge. Correct me if I am wrong.

Based on this assumption when measured on my car, the distance from the flange face to the outer edge of the wheel arch at the vertical  centreline is only 45mm (wheel off and jack under the suspension arm).

This would result in the rim protruding 34 mm outside before the tire is added. So either my arches are different than yours or I am missing something. I assume that the total width of the 71/2 “ discs and the 8.4 discs are the same.

Really appreciate you trying to help me out.

Kim

Front arches are about 2 1/2" wide, rears are about 2" wide.

Okay so I think the discrepancy is in the arch widths. My front arches are 2” without the chrome band and 1 3/4” at the rear.

So if I purchased the 5” Minilite wheel with, according to mini spares, an ET of +24mm (1”) the wheel distance from flange to outer edge of the rim would be 5”/2= 2.5” minus 1” (24mm ET) = 1 1/2”   This could work. Do you think my logic is correct?

My only visual concern with the 5” rim is that there will not be much outer lip to spoke distance

Not concerned about rears because they have minimal stickout now. With new narrower rims I could add some shims to get them out to arch edge.

If anyone on the forum could send a photo of their 5” minilite that would be very helpful

Thanks

Kim
