I've just done this and it was a right git to do. I ended up removing the air filter and ECU unit, and loosening the breather just enough to get some very, very limited access. I didn't want to take the breather off completely because getting that rear nut back seemed like an impossible task, so I just loosened it which allowed me to displace it enough. There's a video on YT of 2 guys doing one on an SPI, but they didn't have to move the breather at all and I can't see how they had access. Is the breather in a slightly different position on the MPI?

Anyway, the job is done and I'm just thankful the nuts were easy to undo. My hands and forearms are now nicely bruised and scuffed up!

Yep! Everything is pretty tight. One thing I did years ago, which has helped me more than once, was to replace the 2 hard brake lines that come off the brake master with braided ones. This allows me to unbolt the master from the booster, and move it out of the way without having to have to bleed the system. Helps free up some space.

Just taken mine off my spi in 35 mins by just taking the air cleaner off and moving the coil to the side. Took the first small bolt out and loosened the second long bolt but left it in situ because no room to take it out fully. Put a ring spanner on the nut under the back one and socket on top and took the bolt out, the nut fell lower down but a magnet soon got it out. The bar just pulled out with the long front bolt still in it.

I'm thinking fitting is just same process in reverse except for one thing, I will be putting the back bolt in first from the bottom and the bar will hold it there while I put the nut on top, then just do the front two same way as they came out, long bolt in situ when I slide the bar into place.

I saw that video on youtube and wondered why he was taking the ecu off.

No scuffs or bruises so far  :proud:
