I'm rebuilding a 1098cc engine, full disclosure its from a Morris Minor and is going in an Austin Healey Sprite.  It came with the car which was in pieces and so I've not heard it run or driven it.

The engine at the moment has a solid crank pulley that is a bit damaged (bent flanges), I found a better one in my collection of spares and also found a rubber damper pulley.

Is there any benefit on a 1098 engine to fitting a damper pulley and if so is the one I have likely to be suitable or are they specific to different engine sizes?

I would strongly suggest fitting one.

This one should be suitable;-

Thanks, from reading the link it seems that they are basically all the same and I can just fit the one I have, is that correct?

For an 1100 engine, hanging on in 3rd to overtake or on the motorway, in the 5,000 / 6,000 RPM range, any good condition damper is better than nothing.

This one ?

,,, and also found a rubber damper pulley.

Just be sure the rubber is in good order. The rubber does get hard with age too and so it becomes less effective. There are firms about who can recondition them.
