Mini Engine Colour Code

Yes it should be all BMC green to be factory original including your rocker cover and clutch cover (Middle Bronze Green BS 223 is close to the original colour).

Even the original dynamo and starter motor were often green on Mk1 Minis as the engine/gearbox unit was sprayed in the factory more or less fully assembled (see video below).

Refurbished or modified cylinder heads were often supplied in a different colour by aftermarket tuning companies like Janspeed, etc.

Later BL Mini engines were black soon after the Mk3 was introduced in early 1970's, then later in the 1980's the 998cc A+ engine was yellow and the 1275cc A+ engine was red.

I have a 1963 Morris Mini Minor 850 Super Deluxe, at some time in its past the cylinder head has been painted red, I always thought this age of mini was completely green. I want to ensure that it is put back to original, can someone help with the codes/colour please.
