Need a new Brake master cylinder for 98 MPI mini.

Brakes aren't good and been told this is the issue.

Anyone know the difference between these two?

I would definitely buy the one listed by Spider and from Minispares, I bought the supposedly same one from another vendor as MS was out of stock at the time, it lasted 6 months, the replacement one I bought from MS has lasted 5 years so far.

It would be unusual for the master to be the cause of "poor performance". They tend to work or not work. Not working should have specific symptoms; like brake failure at the front or back, if not both; excessive pedal travel; leaking into the servo....

If you haven't checked the servo for air leaks; the caliper pistons aren't seized; the condition of the discs & pads... do that before forking out for a new master cylinder.

To answer your question. One would be an original and the other a cheap copy.

In my Mrs case, the brakes still worked to a certain degree during normal use, if the car got caught on a down/up hill and you kept your foot on the brake it would slowly sink to the floor. The big give away was the brake fluid level going down all the time, which ends up in the servo filling up.
