Hi,
I'm continuing the rebuild of a Morris Minor 1098 engine, for some reason it came with a CAM4810 cylinder head rather than a 12G202.
I have a 12G202 missing its exhaust valves as I borrowed them for another head years ago, otherwise the head is sound.
I've used the exhaust valves from the CAM4810 and also plan to use all the springs, however, I noticed when stripping it that the valve springs were slightly off to one compared to the retainers in some instances.
Upon stripping I've found that the spring retainers aren't a dead fit on the springs, compairing them to the retainers I have from the 12G202 which fit better.
Looking at the ones off the CAM4180 head the machined rebate is large allowing a bit of sideways movement. They don't seem to move enough to come off but is it meant to be like this?
I have 7 of the type with the larger rebate from the CAM 4180 and 4 of the smaller rebate type (1 from the CAM4180 and 3 from the 12G202 which only had 3).
I've looked through the archives and found some info about different collet types but both seem to fit the single grove collets ok so I'm a bit confused, any idea why they are different and if they will be ok?
