Hi everyone. I've tried to locate the answer to this problem by searching but can't find exactly what I want.
One of the terminals detached from my brake reservoir lid, but no warning light came on on the switch on the dash. If you press the switch it lights up, so power there. I reconnected the wire and lifted the cap out of the fluid and let it drain. This didn't illuminate the switch. Neither does connecting both the cap wires directly together. I understand that one wire is power and one is an earth. Should connecting them turn on the dash switch when the ignition is turned to position 2! Thanks, Daz.

The Switch in the Cap is normally open, so to have the light come on, the wires are connected, so it sounds like you have a wiring fault there. I'd start by looking at the crimps in the wires at the switch.

 

Undoing the cap and lifting it out of the fluid, should bring the light on, this is another way to test the switch and wiring.

Bang on that Spider, I can now illuminate the dash switch when the contact is made. This has revealed though that the float switch at the reservoir doesn't work. The float moves up and down as it should, but no contact is made it seems. A cheap fix to replace. Thanks for the help.
