I bought these

On the top mount there are 4 washers. On my old ones there were only 2.
What do I do?

There are two "washers" and two "locators" - ones I have seen, typically the locators are slightly thinner gauge material if you look closely.
So in order, on top of the shock, you place in this order:
1) "Washer"
2) Rubber mount
3) Locator (with raised side UP to locate into the hole in the wheel arch)
4) The wheel arch !!!
5) Locator (with raised side DOWN to locate into the hole in the wheel arch)
6) Rubber mount
7) "Washer"
8) Nut or Nuts depending - I have had dampers with one Nyloc or two plain nuts (often one of these is a half nut) for locking purposes

Ok, thanks for that. The only thing is, I seem to have a washer built in to the top mount, on top, in the boot. is that possible or is it an old one just stuck?
Pete
Sounds like an old one that's stuck.

As said washer on each side of each rubber. There’s also a “washer” in the top of the seat.

Leave out the two centre washers, you don't want metal to metal. From the shock upwards it's washer, rubber with lip upwards, top mount , rubber with lip downwards, washer and top nut. In that order.

If washers are fitted between the rubbers and the hole in the wheel arch there’s a high chance they’ll eventually start rattling.

Seems that the general consensus is not to use the locators. I'm not precious; pretty sure I've had dampers with them and without with no obvious difference (to me) but I'm always happy to follow the majority view so I'll leave them out from now on.
