Hey,

I just did up a '78 Morris Mini 1000, and replaced all of the centre switches for new ones from Minispares, as the originals I had were rather sad, some of them broken - so got a new set.

The quality of the new ones are however rather bad.

The spring clips on the top/bottom that hold it into the bezel are weak and bendy, not strong and spring steel like the originals.

I ended up swapping some of the clips from the old units, just so they would stay in the bezel. So bad.

But today I found my light switch, is dodgy in the centre position. It moves a little bit, making it make or break contract, depending on the smallest of movements. When in the On position, the main headlights etc all come on fine and that position is solid. Just the middle position is dodgy.

Has anyone found a good range of switches, suitable for use in place of these switches, were there are single and double position switches, and momentary etc, that are compatible enough for retrofitting into the mini?

Obviously different plugs will have to be mounted, but is there anything out there that is reliable and looks OK?

Wont look factory I know, which is a shame, but I would prefer them to be reliable. This failed compliance due to this damn switch.

Thanks

Yeah have been looking at options for just generic switches. ON-OFF Toggle, ON-OFF Momentary, in 2 wire, ON-OFF-ON to mimock the Light switch, in 3 wire, and ON-ON in 6 wire to mimock the hazard.
All options to look at. Aliexpress has a ton of options, even have some in 22mm x 30mm sizing which is right for the originals, but nothing that covers all in the same style, for the right sizing.
Still hunting.
Hopefully someone knows of something that works and is the right sizing for all the switches

Thanks

They were always a tad fragile when carrying the full current of the headlight circuit - using a relay for that can help a lot. They're also reasonably tinkerable if you pry them apart. The rocker pushes a "sled" with a spring loaded copper shoe, just turning the bits round may do enough.

I've built a number of looms using these, always been reliable and sensibly priced too https://polevolt.co....tches-119-c.asp
