I only got one key with my car so looking to buy a spare but where from and how much is a reasonable price?
Been quoted £30 for one ignition key which seems expensive to me when I've seen blanks for a fiver.

Hi,

I got a spare cut at Timpsons, some time ago so cannot remember how much it cost.

Better to spend £30 now than find you have lost your only key and then have to spend more to replace locks and ignition barrel. Pricey!!

£5 for the blank £25 for using the machine plus time/labour for cutting it.

Paddy

Have you got the code for your ignition key?

I got a couple cut online using the code from here:

https://www.replacem...le/classic-car/

I decided to make up a couple of new sets of keys because the originals were worn and I wanted to preserve them.

So I also got keys for the petrol cap.

New complete switch with wiring and two keys from Minispares £42 or £30 from ebay so £30 for one key at Timpsons seems pricey.

There's no code on the key so I'll look on the switch itself later, unless its written down on the vin or somewhere ?

I used Timkins at our local Tesco. They had to order in the blanks (you had to buy 2) and then cut them. perfect fit.

There was originally a sticker on the inside of the Column Shroud, the key number was hand written on that.

The code (4 numbers) used to be stamped on a small metal tag that was on the key ring with the original keys.
