Hi all

How can I find out if my aeg163 cylinder head is any good?
I’ve had the head around 32 years but not been used for around 27 years .
Has been dry stored .

Thanks

Plan A,bolt it on and try it.Plan B,fix whatever plan A shows.Plan C,have it rebuilt. You could check for flatness, lap the valves, wiggle the guides and still be guessing.Steve..

Try turning it over, pistons up... put wd-40 in bore chamber, with valve closed, then blow compressed air into exhaust/inlet port.

This will show valve seat condition...

Crack and Pressure Test will show up 99% of faults. Regardless if you think it was fine when last used, I would suggest you have these done as something small found now can be nipped in the bud before it grows in to something that can't be fixed.

Does anyone know of any firms in England that will do crack and pressure testing on cylinder heads, preferably in the South?
