My cooper came without the auxiliary fan, PO must have removed it, so I'm thinking of fitting one. I've found lots of loose wires everywhere but I've decided these could be the ones can anyone confirm these are correct? I know everything needs a good clean up and new connectors I'm slowly going through it but just need confirmation these are correct.

AS these are the only ones that reach I think they go here ?

This is the tricky one I think its the power to the fan but it only reaches as far as the rad cap so must need an extension ?

A green/white and a black are as mine for the sensor at the bottom of the rad. Not sure about the other. Is the relay still on the bulkhead for the fan? Daz

I believe its one of the two on the right ?

That plug is hanging just below but it wouldn't reach the fan without an extension to it, maybe the fan itself has a lead with a socket on it ? Could you check if yours has or is it straight into the relay.

presumably you should be able to test the connector in the 2nd pic for voltage (should be none when engine running) and then if you bridge the two down by the bottom of the rad with a paperclip, or make up a little connector wire with spade crimped on each end, you'll see 12v

assuming the relay is working of course.  but that does bypass any potential issues with the temp switch at least

Thanks, that is the logical way and I would have got there eventually but just thought while I'm doing other things someone might know with the wiring colours.
Been out in the car today (to the great british car journey museum) on the hotest day so far and the temp gauge didn't go above halfway mark so I wonder if the fan is needed but if all the wiring is there and working I may as well fit one anyway.

This looks like it on the inner wing behind the radiator. The wire from the fan comes through the hole in the second pic, with the other connector attached.

Thankyou for the pictures it helps. I've looked on a few sites and it seems most fans come without a plug just two wires with the instruction to use the plug from your old fan.

Someone with more knowledge may say otherwise, but as there are only two wires, and if you can't source the plug, can they just be bullet connected together?
