Hello,

I have a problem with my immobilizer.

Sometimes everything works normally (LED flashes or lights up), and I cannot start the engine without using the remote control.

Lately, however, it has been happening very often that the LED does not flash when I get in. Then I can start the engine without using the remote control.

Since I have been having some problems with the door contact on the driver's door lately (the interior lighting does not always work) – does the immobilizer also use the contact like the alarm system?

Thank you!

I have a 95 spi and find that the flashing light/ immobiliser can work intermittently. I don't worry about it. I just use the fob to switch the immobiliser on / off if I need to.

Yeh, the door switches are an integral part of the 5AS (immobiliser) unit. If one is dodgy, replace it.

Thanks,

What is the function of the door contacts in connection with the immobilizer? I thought that the immobilizer was activated after a certain period of time (if I deactivate it using the remote control and then do not start the engine, it is reactivated—regardless of whether I get out of the car in the meantime or not).

Is the immobilizer only reactivated after driving when the (driver's) door is opened? Since the contact no longer had a ground connection, that would explain the problems with the immobilizer – just like the alarm system and the interior lighting, it would not have detected that the door was opened.

It's all part of the alarm system - the 5AS.

Okay, I would just like to know what function the door contact has in connection with the WFS, as a failure of the contact also leads to a failure of the WFS, but the alarm system generally continues to function.

It may not be related, but worth changing.
