My next door neighbour bought it a few months ago but she said that it was not running well. On Tuesday I had a look at it and I changed the carb needle, re-set everything but it still had a very slight mid-fire at mid and top end.
Today I took it to the rolling road at Brunswick Motorsport near Ely and Wayne did a full diagnosis. The ‘new’ coil, just 12 months old, was breaking down above about 3000 rpm.
After the RR session it’s giving 51.7 bhp at just over 5000 rpm and 60 ft. lbs of torque over a wide range.
I had forgotten just how nice a good 998 Mini is to drive and what a great and smooth engine a slightly improved 998 is.
