Found this horror after stripping the paint.
I've never known a fuel filler hole rot out before!
Do I put a chop in (if I can get one) or fill over it again?

Hi,I wouldn't cover it up,at this stage I would cut it out and weld a section in,you have the bit there to make a replacement part.

Not a structural point, if the patch is welded in more or less OK, then leave it, fill over it again.

I`ve seen quite a few rot there and all have been late 80`s onwards.

I butt weld a piece in and dress it out both sides so you never know it was there.

This one's an 87 and has rotted out in some strange places like just under the guttering above the rear window.

Condensation from the boot can rot the parcel shelf and window aperture particularly at the bottom of the rear window and the top isn`t helped by the foam strips they seem to put in for no other reason than to trap condensation so it`s a good idea to remove them all.

Also worth checking the upper rear seatbelt mounting areas but it looks like yours is stripped of all it`s trim and remove the foam from the corners of the roof while you`re at it, you can get your fingers in without removing the headlining.
