I picked up a couple of head gaskets from Moss. I was looking at them this morning (planning on installing one), and they look like that some of the metal side is splitting away from the rest of it. Just checking if this is a no-go. Thanks

Why not check with Moss?  In my experience with them, you'll get a truthful answer or at least a replacement.

I think that will squeeze closed when it's the between head and block and torqued down. The seal is between the steel and gasket surfaces at that point.

oh yeah, they are good and I’ve had only good experiences with them. I called them and unfortunately they are closed today. Planning on calling tomorrow, but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this.

They'll be closed tomorrow, too.

It's a public holiday, here.

Try Tuesday?

Looks fine to me. Most gaskets are multi layered and look like that. It won't be an issue.

thanks all for your input. I called Moss this morning and they said it is normal for the product, and that it needs to be installed without sealant.
