Evening all,

This is my first post on here, been working on my first mini, a 1995 SPI Sprite.
I have recently changed the upper engine steady for an adjustable kind with polybushes as my old bushed has disintegrated. All fine for a good few weeks, until! The bolt that connects it to the block sheared off slightly under flush with the block. After reading on here I found that this is commen enough that Mini Spares do 4 different repair kits dependant on your needs.

Mine is the kind with a breather from the clutch housing. Got my kit, after some small adjustments to the bracket I now have it fitted. (It was fouling on the clutch housing slightly at the back so the front bolt didn't line up, ground of a tiny amount and now it fits.) Great, new bracket on, I go to fit the little adapter provided to move the breather out of the way and the studs from the housing that the oil separator mounted to, go through the gasket - adapter - gasket .... but when I put the oil separator goes on, the stud at the rear is flush! So I cannot get the nut on?!

Now am I right in saying that these studs are removable? Can I get it out and replace with a longer stud?

I don't want to try and they are not as I will obviously snap them and need a whole new clutch housing ... more than far from ideal!

Also does anyone know what size and thread the studs are if they are removable? (Metric/Imperial ect)

Its the last few weeks of summer and I want to be out driving my mini, not have it off the road over the sake of one sheared bolt!

Hope you lovely people can drop some knowledge and help me out.

Thanks in advance!  :highfive:

Cheers for the recommendations, just worried that they are not going to be any longer than what is in there to compensate for the adapter.

Think I'm just going to have to suck it and see!

You could do some measuring, I presume you already have manifold to carb studs & they're accessible enough to measure without removing.

Just by counting the threads the nut (unf) portion is about 15mm and the bit that'll go in the transfer case is 10mm. So the unthreaded bit in the middle must be about 20mm, from measuring the photo.
