Hi all. Took the Hif38 out of the car today, hoping to transfer the air intake elbow over to the new HIF44 then crack on with the installation. Obviously I discovered they aren't interchangeable. There are a few used options on eBay, so I think I'm ok there. My question now is as above. Will the current standard air box I had on the 38 fit without issue onto the 44 elbow? Cheers, Daz.

As far as I'm aware. The one in your piccy was the original Metro airbox. The MG Metty got something with a more sophisticated hot air flap that was adapted for  90s Mini Coopers.

Thanks Ethel. Was one of the differences between the std Metro and the MG version the jump from a 38 to a 44 carb then?

I'm not 100%, but I think all the 1275 Metros used Hif44s from the off.

I have a Haynes buried somewhere, but perhaps somebody else can confirm, or there's some info online.

...Burlen seem to agree

To answer your question, yes the airbox will fit.

Brilliant, thanks Shooter. I would have found out by the weekend, but now I can worry about something else instead. Daz.

Before I take my k+n cone filter off my hif44, would an original hs4 air box fit a 44. Cheers

It's the weekend. It fits👍
Hif44 carb takes the same airbox as the Hif38.

Same situation. Yes - with the correct elbow - Again, not tried but don't see why not.

This could be a 3d printer project I reckon.

I picked an elbow up off Ebay, wasn't sure if the dash pot would fit the hole lol

Pretty sure they're the same.
