I'd be very grateful for any recommendations for mechanics in the Southampton area who have a proven record in engine work for classic cars.
Simple enough work to fix common A series compression and head gasket complaints, but have been burned with non specialist garages in the past.

Maybe worth you contacting AC Dodd, don't think he is a million miles from you, certainly one of the most respected authorities on A series engines on this forum and the UK.

Thankyou, yeah I recall knowing of his reputation now you mention it. Though what he does is probably more high performance tuning compared to what I'm needing right now, car's a long way off that... appreciate it though!
