Hello All,

New member from the USA. I recently purchased a JDM 1999 Rover Mini with 28k miles. It's still in transit from Japan and should be in my possession by November if all goes well. From the research I've performed, it's an SPI 1270 with factory air condition, 4-speed manual, and was accessorized with fender mirrors. I know that year came with an air bag, but it appears the first owner removed the factory steering wheel with an aftermarket one without the air bag. From the VIN, I believe it's a Cooper trim level.

I have recent pictures and videos, but this is a link I found when searching the VIN. It's from Internet Archive and takes a while to load, but perhaps the pictures could help you experts help me learn more about the car:

I have a screen capture from a video if the engine. From what I can see (based on learning fro mthis forum), it has the electronic ignition (no distributor cap). I'll try to post that picture for consensus.

So excited to be part of such an amazing group of enthusiasts!

You might find 'The Last Minis' website linked below of interest although the Japanese spec Minis were SPi and retained the side mounted radiator (and had factory air conditioning) but in all other respects were very similar to the UK spec MPi Minis.

The Last Minis:-

Also a Useful FB link for Classic Mini Air Conditioning:-

https://www.facebook...756900611517382

"For all classic Minis built between 1959-2000 with air conditioning installed, from the factory, aftermarket or factory AC installed later. Only about air conditioning and any related problems, removal, modifications, installation, overheating, etc.
ANY posts or photos not directly pertaining to Classic Mini air conditioning will be deleted. Pictures of Classic Minis will be okay. Mini compatible AC systems found in other cars will also be allowed."
