I’m working on my daughter’s mini 40 and am disconnecting the battery after each session. The problem is that the immobiliser is behaving oddly - when I reconnect the car battery, pressing the unlock 4-6 times doesn’t allow me to start the car. What seems to work is repeatedly pressing the lock button until you hear a relay click and the indicators flash 3 times then repeatedly pressing the unlock button until the lights flash once. After that you have the same rigmarole each time to start the car. Has anyone come across this before or is it a case that I need to send off the immobiliser and fobs?
Any help appreciated…

Not really help but my mini's immobiliser has been disabled somehow by previous owner so it is a possible option if you can find a way.

I would like my immobiliser to work again but weary of trying for fear of it being faultly like yours and then being stuck with it.

All I know is the separate immobiliser diagnostic socket is at the wheel side of the brake servo but I believe it needs a special software to access it and change any settings, not the normal ecu code reader.

Thanks for your reply.  I’ve got to the bottom of this now - one of the battery posts in the fob had become detached from the circuit board.  Once resoldered, the problem was gone.  It seems that when you press the buttons, the pcb flexes a little and the joints get damaged over time.
