Just a very small bit of welding on the sills plus some work I want to do to make it as I want it. The wheels I don’t like and I will be getting a new set of 5.5x13 Minilites. Don’t like the huge thin steering wheel but I have a spare 14” Motolita.
It sure makes a difference from a Mini.

Hi,
Nice one Cooperman, love the colour. Why did our motor industry throw the mass production of great sports cars out the window?

Nice, and it even has a tenuous link to the Mini.

The hood down in the summer is going to be epic, fair play!

I am making progress with it. There was a bit of corrosion at the ends of each sill, around the end 4" and I have properly repaired that, just got to match the body colour which is said to be Rover Monza Red. There are two Rover Monza Reds!
I'm about to order the new Minilite 5.5x13 wheels and a new walnut dashboard. I have found a company to supply and fit a new hood and I bought a pair of Lucas SLR700 spotlights on Ebay for £50. Just got to design and make some aluminium brackets for them. Grandson has given me a 14" MotoLita steering wheel and I just need a boss. The tacho is about to go away for rewiring for electronic ignition and for calibration.
I hope to have it all finished by around early March, but I have a couple of engines to build for other cars first.
I don't know how I found time to go to work before I retired!

Having just sold my 1990 Cooper 1330 historic rally car, I am being tempted to look at buying a Mk.5 Sunbeam Alpine. It is rarer than an MGB with similar performance, especially if one fits twin 40 DCOE Webers or a single 32/36 DGAS Weber, flows the alloy head and increases the CR to around 10:1.
With over-drive on 3rd and 4th it would be a great touring car in Summer and a lot better on motorways than the Minis.
I have a bid in on eBay which closes this evening, so we shall see.
I saw that Get Carter was on a while ago. Did this have any bearing on your getting an Alpine? ![]()
It does look lovely.

The work is coming along well and I will get the new Minilites this month. Just a bit of welding still needed on the RH sill.
I decided to get a complete new hood and a new walnut laminated inst panel.
Then it should be ready for Spring and some open top motoring.

It’s great to drive and quite smooth compared to the S.
