hi all , just wondering if anybody could help me out here im looking for handbrake cables for the mini i cant seem to find out what zcars used were they a custom job or a OEM part modified or some kind of universal fitnent? i tried the zcars fb group but nobody seems to know. just a heads up on the set up or some pics would help

Hey! Yeah, the Zcars setups can be a bit tricky since they mixed and matched a lot of parts. From what I’ve seen, most of their handbrake cables were modified OEM ones, usually based on standard Mini or Fiesta cables, depending on the build. Some people have had custom ones made to fit their setup better. You might want to try a local cable specialist; they can usually replicate or tweak one if you’ve got the old cable as a sample. Hopefully, someone here can post a few pics to help you out, too.

thanks for that im going to have a look around see what cables look like they would fit and take it from there its the end fitting im looking at where it actually fits on the caliper it looks like it needs a welded end to fit in the arm of the caliper as they are a slotted hole

I wonder if working out what car the caliper came from would be a good idea, at least then you'd find something with the right end on it and it can be modified / shortened perhaps

thats exactly what i did stuart saxo calipers so i ended up buying a pair of cables to suit. will have to make a bracket to fit handbrake lever itself but otherwise looks like it will work out ok

ah saxos have a decent race parts availability too I assume what with the saxmax cup (I assume that's still a thing)
