There is a reason why not common on minis.

I would say just get the ratio right on a 4spd for what you use the car for..5spd is just overkill in my opinion as the mini is not meant to sit at high speed for long, not does it need a cruising gear.

JKD have been out of business for many years now so I believe so any new spares, gear sets etc will be very thin on the ground or not available at all.
Even second hand bits will be rare and probably at a premium as people will pay to keep a classic racer original.
