Specialist Components - The Holy Grail of tuning is back - manufacturing begins soon - (Weslake) ECR8 Alloy X-flow Cylinder Head - revives the famous crossflow design.

"Introducing the ECR8 alloy x-flow cylinder head, from 'Euro Car Racing' in Australia, modern manufacturing, CNC machined/ported, we are excited to be the UK distributor of them. We’ll be running development programs simultaneously in Australia and here in the UK to bring complete solutions to the market as well as the heads. Exciting times."

I'm not sure where this fits in really, if I remember right originally the head had down draft injection, how you can make it work under a std bonnet leaves me scratching my head but I suppose anything is possible. The Arden head is a known performer which has had development work done on it and is a really nice piece of kit.

The April 2026 issue of Miniworld reports on the Specialist Components announcement that they will be the official UK distributor of the new ECR8 alloy crossflow cylinder head from Euro Car Racing in Australia. They say they have (quote):-
"Opened a reservations list for interested parties which will form the basis of deposits and orders - first on the list gets first delivery. The heads are being designed with a 36 x 31 valve set initially, with larger inlets if the port cross-sections allow it. Cost estimate for fully ported/assembled heads is £2400 plus VAT at this time. We will be preparing cam profiles, exhaust manifolds and EFI induction to begin with in order to be ready for testing when the pre-prod heads land here in mid-2026."
