I am planning ahead for the day when my existing 998 will expire.
So faced with 2 options. First, replace with an unknown engine, or aquire an enginer and strip and rebuild whilst making a few modifications along the way i have so far come up wit the following.
Donor engine - 998 A+
Engine head - 1275
Cam kit SW5
Oil pump
Watrer pump
Gaskets and oil seals
Crank and main bearings
Duplex timing kit
Central oil pickup
Lower gearbox steady's
The intention is to pocket the block.
Should produce a pretty good engine and I want to keep a 998.
Thoughts please.

Get everything balanced (crank, conrods clutch and flywheel assembly) before putting them back in.

1275cc block????
No no no.
It has to be a 998 block. I want a 998 that will give a standard 1275 a darn good spanking !!!!
Balancing would be nice, but there will be a budget - I've got to get it rolling roaded.

a set of lightened or 's' rods in that case!! to get decent power you'll need a big boys toy cam and some lightweight internals!!
mite be worth speaking to sum1 that builds the mini seven engines they are capable of over 100bhp@crank! from a 998 with i think +40 overbore!!
