Hi all.

My prior fuel sender died. I just replaced it and the gasket, but the new one I can’t get to stop leaking. I put some blue gasket dressing on it to try and help, but still no luck. It’s like the retaining clip I can’t set it tight enough, but if I over tighten it then it gets worse and backs off. Ideas?

How did the old sender feel when you removed it?

I tap on the flanges with a hammer and chisel to tease it back in so it locks positively; doing it by hand will not be tight enough.

I have never used blue gasket sealant on it.

Good luck.

Took the tank out to get a better angle and seem to have got it. Tapped the back tab down a little so it would have better leverage on the sender and that seems to have got it to seat well.

I've only ever fitted up the seals on these 'dry', just clean the faces. I'm guessing here the sealant was slippery and possibly allowed the seal to dislodge.
