Just wondering what size the bolts are on the head....all he bolts.
Just only got a couple 1/2inch spanners to take studs out and I know the bolts that hold the head to the block are bigger just want to know if there are any other a different size as I'm going to need to buy the spanners for them, as I have no stud extractor.
Cheers....sorry if that makes no seance.

7/16" will get the top rad bracket off the rad
Just buy a complete set from 7/16" to 3/4" and you will have all you need !!!

yeah....I can't afford that. Got the sockets to take the rocker and rad bits off so all I'nn need are a couple of 9/16 and poss another 1/2inch (got a 13mm and a 1/2inch but don't want to screw anything up)

3/8" = about 9.5mm
7/16" = a bit over 11mm
1/2" = a bit under 13mm a 13 can be handy on a dodgey 1/2" to get it off
9/16" =a bit over 14mm
5/8" =a bit under 16mm
11/16" =a bit over 17mm A 17 can be handy on a dodgey 11/16 to get it off
3/4" =19mm These two are as near as damit the same
by dodgey i mean rusted or rounded so its smaller than it should be.
to get the exact metric size divide 25.4 by the second number and times by the first, for example
3/4... 25.4/4x3= 19.05mm

You can buy spanner or socket sets for less then £10, I got mine for £12 and it has every imperial size I could possibly want for everything on my car - up to 3/4 that is...

correction then.
I do not like to buy cheap spanners.
But cheap spanners are better then no spanners?
I bought a cheap set of spanners and a cheap set of sockets (both with metric and imperial), and now I buy more expensive stuff as required...

Aye this is very true. But i like the quality of a good spanner. I'm just weird about these things. Thats why I go spare when people mess with my tools.

this is fair enough, the ones I got weren't bad though, I've not managed to break any yet, and had them several years... If you can afford decent ones buy the ones Graham (disguised as minislapper) suggested, else buy some to do the job.
And the 9/16ths ones for the head might need a deep socket as it can be a long drop onto some of the studs.

go to the evil ones tomorow then (good tool shop but I hate the customer service, so I don't like to go there),

Yet dont ahve spanners to do the job?
Buy some reasonably good spanners liek Draper, if you dont want to waste money on cheap stuff, but find others too expensive.
If you cant afford one set of half decent spanners then youve bewildered me.

Everytime we went to tool shops if I looked at a cheap tool the sound of
"wouldn't last 10 mins at work"
I like to buy good tools as I know they won't break when I need them. That and a good set of tools last ages. Would like a set of snap-on's tho. Life time warranty.
