Good evening:

I am back after many years absent from the list and am restoring a 1963 Morris Mini Van. I have a set of Cosmic 10 inche wheels that I am going to use to replace the wheels that were on it when I got it. The van has spacers on it and the wheels it cme on had the stud holes badly worn into elipticals which I assume was from the wrong whells nuts being used for those wheels. Th eold wheels were, I think Dunlops, and I don't know but think they should have had lug nuts that are like to ones on Revolution wheels with the collare that goes down the stud like a collar.

Anyway to the point: what are the correct notes for cosmic wheels and where do you buy them-I search "lug nuts for 10 inch Cosmic wheels for a mini and was sent to a website for Cosmis wheels not Cosmic wheels.

Looking forward to any help you can offer....

Malcolm

These guys should be able to help you. If the stud holes are worn, you might need to get new wheel seats, or have them redrilled to a larger nut size so that they locate properly and won’t come loose

The Cosmics fitted to our Midget in the 80s had seats pressed into the alloy rim. One was a bit loose .. which was just glued into place everytime it came away from the rim.

I'm not at home for a week or two but when I get back I can confirm my thoughts below.

As mentioned the wheels have a small insert pressed into them that allows the use of the curved seat nuts that Mr Bounce links too

or the MS version with the bigger seat

I'm sure if you ring Minispares one of the guys can tell you right off, Rich in York is very good on this front.

I bought a set of conical  wheel nuts and matching steel inserts there for my cosmic Mk1S' - it shall be said that the cylindrical bore in the wheel itself needs to be enlarged to 19mm, to accept the replacement seats provided. The serrated seats then need to be pressed in.
