I'v got a 1.5" carb to put on my Mini and its got a float that sticks and the shaft with the throttle flap thing on it has play in it and I was told it should'nt.

yeah rebuild kit.
IF! you cannot afford it for now you could just give it a good clean. Althought the butterfly shaft play might cause a few problems.
But yeah rebuild kit. You'll find that the bushes in the carb need changing so you might have to send it off to Burlen Fuel system to have the bushes machined.
edit
oh, if you don't want a full rebuild just buy the bits you need. Burlen have all the bit bolts and scews

Get a rebuild kit from Burlen. And before you ask, no I don't have their contact details, but they are easy to find.

What size engine you putting it on too?
For a 1.5" (38mm) I assume it's a 998 engine?
