Hello all,
So bear with me. As most who own their mini its not just a car is another member of the family, its always there to make you smile when life throws the worse at you and you forget about it all when you drive.
This year I have only driven my mini three times just over a hundred miles. Every time I’ve gone to get it out for a drive, something had broken, needing replacement. A 500£ mechanic bill, thought it fixed that, then a rear brake cylinder started weeping, which will now need the rear bearing doing. Inlet manifold gasket then spit so I’ve repaired that, then the oil filter leaked, repaired, then looked underneath and the CV joints gaiters have completely perished, now the torque converter seal have failed resulting in my once beloved car, being a large lump of metal in the garage.
This has all come to a point in my life when I’m a few weeks away to sign the dotted line for a mortgage, and have a hefty dental bill coming up. I have been quoted around 2500£ for a manual swap from a trusted mini garage, but I’m at that point which I never thought I would be. Do I just sell up, sell the lot, and remember the “good old times”. I feel my car is fighting me every week and I just don’t have the funds to carry on.

does the new place have enough space to SORN it and put a cover on it for a couple years?
or sell locally to an older person with the funds to keep it and fix it, who isn't likely to just flip it, and ask for first refusal if they ever resell
congrats on 'climbing the ladder' though, I'd say if it comes to it, sacrificing the mini is worth it to get that sorted
