The 731 Cam
i NEED TO KNOW IF THIS WILL FIT IN MY 998 1982 Engine OR WILL I HAVE TO CHANGE THE OIL PUMP
AND WHAT IS THE POWER BAND DOES ANYBODY KNOW

The 731 cam was BL special tuning cam, I belive it is available new from minisport as are the other special cams such as the 997 cooper cam etc etc. I do not know it's power band.
It will be a fairly useless modification to carry out on a car that has had no head work done, you will need something like a well ported and polished 998 head, or you could fit a 1275 head to it for a good power hike too.
It is available in any of the three drive types for your oil pump, you specify which,....
Oil pumps cost about £20, you might as well replace it.

FOR YOUR REPLY THE HEAD THAT IS ON THE ENGINE NOW IS A 12G202 998 Cooper HEAD THAT HAS BEEN PORTED AND POLISHED AND THE ENGINE IS STILL IN THE CAR I HAVE A CHANGED A CAM IN THE CAR BEFORE

dude, turn the caps off.
On the oil pump side make sure you get a good steel backed one. their normaly better.
