Greetings and thanks for letting me in.

My first car in 1978 was a (very rusty and tired) Mk1 - DPX 666C. I've had quite a few since and, to be honest my Mini interest and passion has oscillated over the years depending on circumstances. I currently own:

A very good replica 1071 'S' built into a 1963 shell with a period - modified flat front FJ engine and all the right bits. It's been laid up for a while and needs wheeling out and re-commissioning. I don't expect it to be a problem. I know folks don't like replicas but the engine and box were in an early (1970) MKIII shell and it became apparent that that was wholly inappropriate.

A tatty 1994 Rover Tahiti. I'd tuned it well, with some setting up help from AC Dodd, rasing the BHP from 46 to 82 on the rollers. It was a lovely clean little car but in 2015 it got put away into (supposedly) temporary dry storage but ended up being stuck in situ until about 18 months ago and by then the bodywork had deteriorated badly and was suffering mechanically. I freed up the clutch, replaced the water pump, had the rad professionally refurbished and got it running, taxed and MOTd. It's very lumpy at the moment - I think there may be water in the fuel tank so it's tank out soon to assess that. Then it's into a body shop to have the paint and panel work sorted.

A 1969 MKII 998 Cooper. It was restored by me and my dad many years ago but sadly got put away about 18 years ago and hasn't moved since so is back to needing a full resto.

I also have some rare spares that need to find new homes so I hope to offer those to the knowledgeable audience here, that know what's what.

That's me.

I look forward to seeing and reading all the good stuff within the Forum.

All the best and keep cool, folks.

Martin

Hi mate, welcome, plenty of regular updates and interesting stuff going on here to keep you occupied

I guess I got here first so I'll do the standard intro:

you can get some discounts from the optional membership https://www.theminif...subscriptions/  @ £5.00 p/a (7.5% at minispares for one, pays for itself on the 1st order usually)

if you do that ping Simon over a quick private message so he makes sure your minispares account is updated - https://www.theminif...nminisparescom/

pics are easiest shared through external hosting, this is what I use: https://imgbb.com/ (don't pay anything just use it free)

easiest bookmarks depending on preference

  main screen (menu): https://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/

  latest updates to conversations:  https://www.theminif...arch_app=forums

if you do get stuck in and there's a fair bit to do, why not start a new thread here and add pics for us to look at during our coffee breaks: https://www.theminif...um/59-projects/

Hello, Stuart.

Many thanks for the informative welcome, which will come in extremely useful as time goes on. I hope to benefit from, and possibly contribute, much useful Mini knowledge.

Best regards,

Martin
