Hi all,

I see piper cams do a camshaft for the MPI. I'm rebuilding my engine, is this cam worth buying ?

How does it affect the emissions ?

It says it can give up to 10 extra bhp.

strangely it's cheaper from MED !

Pete.

Id get the SW5i imo, wont beat it for a road Mini, esp MPi.

if the 270 relates to the duration that seems a fair bit for a wagon with a 2.7 FD that also has to pass emissions tests.

inlet is 252°

Exhaust is 264°

What does the FD have to do with emissions ?

My point about the final drive is that it wouldn't rev high enough to get on cam.  252 & 264 is more reasonable than 270 though.

OK, I see your reasoning now.

It says the power band is from 1500 to 6500.

It's the emissions that worry me a bit. Would it be worse than the stock cam or could it be better ?

I wouldn't know. You'd hope they'd give some indication if there's any suggestion they're for road use. The main factor is valve overlap which will depend on valve duration & lobe centre angle.
